On Sunday, October 19, the Hispanic Ignatian Community (CHI) of St. Ignatius joyfully celebrated “Hispanic Heritage Month: by hosting a community picnic on the campus of the Boston College School of Theology and Ministry.

After the Sunday Mass, parishioners gathered to share their Hispanic roots through a vibrant culinary showcase. Traditional dishes from various countries reflected the cultural richness of the community, creating an atmosphere of fellowship and celebration.

The event featured activities for all ages: face painting, a Spanish-language bingo game, a piñata for the children, raffles, and a solidarity sale of handmade bracelets. These bracelets were crafted by girls and boys ages 11 to 13 who are supported by the “Kino Border Initiative” program in Nogales, Mexico. All proceeds will go to the cooperative that supports them, as part of CHI’s commitment to putting faith into action.

This picnic was more than a celebration—it was a living testimony of how Ignatian spirituality can unite cultures, inspire solidarity, and strengthen the sense of community.
