OIS Welcomes Spiritual Directors of Color Project Facilitator

OIS is delighted to welcome Brenda Bertrand to the role of Spiritual Directors of Color Project Facilitator.

Brenda will be working for several months to cultivate community connections and identify needs and desires while promoting formational opportunities among Spiritual Directors of Color. In this networking role she will build on the momentum of the May 2024 Conversation Among Spiritual Directors of Color hosted by OIS.

Welcome, Brenda!

Brenda Bertrand brings to this work a passion for cultivating BIPOC community within predominantly white spiritual spaces and an extensive background in doing this important work at Fuller Seminary, Princeton Theological Seminary, Georgetown University and the Shalem Institute. She has served as a spiritual director for Black women’s retreats at Ignatius House and for the Sankofa Institute at the Oblate School of Theology, supporting their LEADS program for Black leaders. She completed her training in Ignatian spiritual direction through the Christian Spirituality Program at Creighton University. Her experience as a mindfulness and meditation teacher deepens the spiritual grounding she brings to support and grow the Spiritual Directors of Color community.
