Listening to God Like Ignatius - 2025
by Sindy Collazo
Recently, Ministerio Hispano Ignaciano (the OIS Hispanic Ministry) held a silent Ignatian retreat for 18 people from New Jersey, Connecticut, Long Island, and Pennsylvania.
This Spanish-language retreat, Listening to God Like Ignatius, was led by the Ignatian Hispanic Ministry team: Sindy Collazo, Fr. Jack Fagan, SJ, and Fr. Rocco Danzi, SJ, with the assistance of Alicia Ángeles, Coordinating Member of the Ignatian Hispanic Communities in New Jersey.
The three-day retreat took place at the Loyola Retreat Center in Morristown, NJ, with the objective to introduce participants to the principles and various ways of praying with Ignatian Spirituality. Retreatants were invited to enter into silence incrementally, facilitated by various moments of prayer that invite them to listen to God like Ignatius: in their own story, in the Scriptures, in creativity, in their relationship with the world, in silence, in free time, in a relationship with Jesus, in the story of Ignatius, and "in all things, to love and serve."
After each moment, participants reflected personally and then shared with the entire group the "graces received" from each moment of prayer.
To conclude the retreat, Fr. Rocco Danzi, SJ, presided over the celebration of the Eucharist, concelebrated by Fr. Jack Fagan, SJ.
